Guru Gobind Singh Convent School, situated in the village Sohawa, District Tarn Taran, was started by Sant Baba Sukha Singh Ji, the Mukhi (Head) of Sampardai Kaar Sewa Sant Baba Tara Singh Ji Sarhali Sahib in January 26, 2011 on the popular demand of “sangat”. This English medium school is affiliated to ICSE/ISC having its registered number PU119. It is opened with basic aim of uplifting the standard of education of the area around Sarhali.
This school will prove to be a boon for local population as it is a non-profit earning organization, with an aim to provide quality education to children of the poor rural people who cannot afford costly education in the cities. Sant Baba Sukha Singh Ji, the patron of the school, has announced that 25% seats in the school will be reserved for orphans, EWS, school OBC attendants. The school has a three storey building to accommodate the students taking admission in this institution.
The major problem being faced by the parents in this rural area is of conveyance for their school children which are located far away in their villages from the school. To solve this problem, the school provides its own bus facility having a number of school buses. Very nominal rates are charged (No profit – No Loss basis). All the students are welcomed to use this facility.
In addition to large and well-ventilated rooms, the school has RO system for clean drinking water, modern bath-rooms separately for boys and girls, indoor games, well laid outs lawn & children park.
Religious education and computer education form a necessary part of the curriculum.
The school has employed a highly dedicated qualified and experienced staff. Special attention is paid to discipline and security. The day starts with morning prayer and recitation of Gurbani.
